Haematology is the branch of medicine that deals with studying, diagnosing, treating, and preventing diseases related to blood and the organs that produce it. This field encompasses a wide range of conditions, including disorders of the blood cells (such as anemia, leukemia, and thrombocytopenia), bleeding disorders (such as hemophilia), clotting disorders (such as deep vein thrombosis), and blood cancers (such as lymphoma and myeloma). Haematologists are medical doctors who specialize in this field and often work closely with other healthcare professionals, such as hematopathologists, oncologists, and transfusion medicine specialists, to provide comprehensive patient care.
